I am, therefore I exist, is a phrase affirming one’s existence as a being. It may be a simple phrase, but it says everything about the person saying it. In my opinion, it indicates a confidence.
But why do people need affirmation? Why do we need to be affirmed? Is existence relative to one’s affirmations?
Affirmations are a very powerful technique to empower the subconscious. Once the subconscious is disciplined to believe the affirmation, the latter is converted into a positive action for the conscious mind. Through affirmations, we are empowered to do, to work, and to strive for more things. They allow us to believe in ourselves and to put our thoughts into action.
Affirmations can be combination of verbal and visual techniques. Strong affirmations can be very powerful, and can be used by almost anyone to achieve his or her goals and fulfill the desires of the heart. However, the power of an affirmation depends on how strong or weak your feelings are about what you are wanting.
They are merely an assertion made by a person, about something or about a state of being. For example, we can affirm that which we want to attain by stating something like, I now have a good life, being healthy in mind, body, and spirit.
A strong affirmation should be stated in the present tense to be more effective. An affirmation of I am now a happy person is more effective than an affirmation saying, I am going to become a happy person. Instead of saying, I am not sad, why not make an affirmation saying, I am happy.
An affirmation should be made up of simple but concise words, and it should be short to be more effective. A very long affirmation can work the other way around, instead of creating a positive mindset for a person. A short affirmation can be easily spoken and repeated by a person. It can serve as a mantra that can be repeated over and over again.
To be effective, an affirmation must be repeated. Repetition works and influences the subconscious, which in turn motivates the person into acting out what they are wanting. Writing down the words that one believes in can be very powerful.
However, creating an affirmation alone and repeating them a million times would not make the affirmation a state of mind. The important thing is to live it and to be open-minded enough to do the things that would help the affirmation become a reality. Feeling it and applying it in your life will help in making it a reality.
While affirmations are generally used to make an individual better, they can also be used to boost or confirm another person’s value. By affirming another person’s value, you are helping to improve their self-worth also.
Affirmations are a very simple thing that can make a very big difference in a person’s life. It can be a great motivator and can make things happen.

Brainwashing is a term perceived in a negative way by most people. But you know what; I think our brains could actually do with a bit of a wash sometimes!
You see, everyone comes into this world with a clear mind, and a belief that everything is possible. All is positive and well. Remember as a child, you could do and become everything, without any boundaries! As we grow up however, we pick up beliefs, fears and limitations from our surroundings and peers that gradually form the person we are today. A lot of these beliefs unfortunately are negative and as we build our lives they limit us in our actions and being.
Very often they therefore contribute to unhappiness or feeling unfulfilled in our lives and business. It can be the smallest seemingly harmless- remark from a mother like just let me handle that, you are no good at that can convince you that you are not good at a certain task. A teacher who calls a pupil the clumsy one can do more harm with this remark than he realizes when repeated often enough. With every remark the belief is harnessed further in the child that it indeed is clumsy. Even though a remark is said with a smile or with the intent to be funny, it still leaves a legacy in the belief system.
This programming of course doesn’t stop at adulthood; it keeps influencing people in all stages of life. We are being influenced by our parents, kids, partner, friends, colleagues, television, newspapers, and magazines and so on. Sometimes in a positive, but very often in a negative way. No wonder we limit ourselves in so many ways! Belief is the key to your success. If you belief you can do something, you can. If you belief you can’t do something, you will be right too.
The good news is: we can reprogram our mind and replace our negative, limiting beliefs for positive contributing ones. Positive brainwashing is what I like to call it! This can be done by the use of so called affirmations. An affirmation is a positive self talk statement, stated in the present tense that covers a goal you want to achieve and that overrules negative beliefs towards that goal. An example is I easily do 10 sales calls a day. Or I am an excellent negotiator. By stating this affirmation regularly during your day, you will achieve the goal you have set for yourself easier.
This positive self talk helps your mind to overcome beliefs that you have about yourself, that limit your success and actions. Compare our mind with a computer: when you change the input, the output will change accordingly. So if you have the limiting belief that you are no good in public speaking (probably because of negative experiences in the past) you can actually reprogram your mind by stating the following affirmation: I am an excellent public speaker. I love to speak for huge audiences and people love to hear me talk.
By affirming this belief over and over, you actually start to believe it and your mind will find a way to make this statement a reality. At some stage, you might decide to do a course in public speaking, or someone might ask you to speak at some kind of seminar, which forces you to work on your speaking skills. Somehow, these affirmations help you to reach the goal you have set for yourself and open doors for you that would otherwise have been kept closed. And this works for virtually everything. Believe and it will happen.
Imagine standing before a big river, with a heavy stream. You have to cross it, but you don’t think you can actually do it. Your belief is keeping you from crossing, although you physically should be able to do it easily. It just looks too hard! Then someone else comes up from behind you, and without thinking starts crossing the river and gets to the other side. His belief was positive, and he knew he could do it.
The interesting thing is that this will probably influence your belief: if he can do it, I can do it too and you will then cross the river without any problem at all. Similar things happen when a group of people is introduced to the phenomenon of fire walking. At first a big group of people will say that there is no way they will walk on fire. Until other people with higher beliefs go first, then all of a sudden everyone else rushes over to do it as well.
So think about YOUR beliefs, and try to discover which belief are actually holding you back from reaching your full potential in your life. Then, one by one, start eliminating these beliefs from your system. Formulate an affirmation that counters your negative belief, and reaffirm it daily. Write them in your diary, on your bathroom mirror, next to your computer; anywhere you see it often and say the affirmation out loud as often as possible. You will be happily surprised by the results!
Another powerful way to manifest your goals is by visualizing them. By looking at a picture of your goal or dream daily with a strong desire, you will start attracting them in your life. A brilliant visualization tool that can help you to create and maintain your affirmations and visualizations in a very powerful way is a software program called Vision Board.
Use this fantastic tool to create a Vision Board with self chosen pictures and your personally formulated affirmations, which will help you to achieve the goals you have set in your business. Check out VisionBoard.com for more information!

Anyone wanting to invoke the Law of Attraction – where positive thoughts attract positive energy – will sometimes be confronted with a blockage. No matter how often you use your affirmations to attain a certain desire, or the depth of sincerity with which you are affirming, it just doesn’t seem to be working. It could be that you are obstructing the very energy that you need to manifest what you want, because you are holding on to anger and resentment. The solution is simple: learn to forgive.
“Those who are at war with others are seldom at peace with themselves.” – Anonymous
By harboring negative feelings towards someone, whether they are living or deceased, you are maintaining a bond that keeps you connected to them. The energy that you are preserving is not only negative, but also stagnant. It will keep you from manifesting what you desire. Focusing on negativity will only get you more of the same. If you can manage to forgive, not only will this have a positive, uplifting effect on your well-being — the other person is also likely to experience the benefits.
A Gift to Yourself
Many people think that granting forgiveness is a sign of weakness, or a noble, altruistic act that you do for the other person, in which you condone what occurred in the past. In fact, you don’t have to reconcile to be able to forgive. Forgiveness is rather a “selfish” act, because it is something that you do for yourself. See it as a gift to yourself. By forgiving, you are breaking a negative tie, letting go of the past and allowing lightness and vibrancy into your life.
“As long as you don’t forgive, who and whatever it is will occupy rent-free space in your mind.” – Isabelle Holland
Anyone whom you feel anger, hurt and/or resentment towards is eligible to be forgiven. Start with the first person that pops into your mind while you’re reading this and work your way down your list — all the way to pre-school if you must! And don’t forget to forgive yourself. It will feel as if a huge load has been lifted off your shoulders, leaving you free to receive love, prosperity and abundance.
Some suggested affirmations: * I forgive you completely and freely. * I choose to be free and allow you to be free. * I freely forgive myself and others. * I let go of the past completely and release myself and you from it.

Did you know that every thought that we think creates a vibration? Negative thoughts create negative feelings that lead to low frequency vibrations, whereas positive thoughts create positive feelings that produce high frequency vibrations. According to the universal Law of Attraction, “vibes” attract like “vibes”.
Have you ever noticed how, when you’re feeling down and depressed, you attract situations that are in line with your state of mind? So logically, the key to attracting only the things that you desire into your life, is to vibrate positive energy. Okay, that sounds simple enough…but how do you DO that?”
If you want your life to be more rewarding, you have to change the way you think.” – Oprah
We spend far too much time worrying — about the future, about paying the bills, about upcoming exams, about our health, about getting that promotion. What we’re actually doing when we worry about any situation, is concentrating all our energy on something that we don’t want. Hate, worry, fear, jealousy, anger, sadness are all emotions that make us vibrate negatively.
By focusing on unwanted situations we are actually attracting the exact situations that we want to avoid! We would be doing ourselves a favor by focusing only what we DO want, instead ofwasting time and energy on the things that we DON’T want.
Opposites Do Not Attract
Obviously, no one can feel good all day long, every day. The key is to do the things that make you feel good as often as you can. Play uplifting music while you drive to work, avoid the television programs that produce negative feelings, don’t read the newspaper if the content affects you negatively, interact only with positive-minded people… just let go and have fun!Learn to monitor your thoughts…if you notice yourself thinking a negative thought, immediately negate its effect by focusing on something that makes you feel good.
Remember, there is nothing more important than feeling good! Keep a photo of your kids or pet or favorite actor nearby to help you make that switch. Be grateful for the things that are going well in your life. Do whatever it takes to generate that upbeat feeling, because opposites do not attract…but like certainly will attract like. The Law of Attraction is on the mark each time and it does not make mistakes!
“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve.” – Napoleon Hill
In order to get what you desire in life, you have to give those desires regular attention. Fantasize, dream, imagine, focus…for what you create in your mind, you create in reality. If it’s a specific car that you want, order a brochure of it and look through it every day. Think about what color you want and which accessories and options your model has.
If it’s a fantasy vacation in the Maldives or the Caribbean, compile your own colorful screensaver, fantasize about those white beaches and crystal clear waters abundant with tropical fish. Paste pictures of your dream home or that sleek yacht that you desire on aboard and look at it often. Be excited about it! Focus wholeheartedly and with certainty on what you want, and do so in this moment. Believe that you have what you desire now, today, in this present moment. Focus on how good that makes you feel, and try to generate that feeling as often as you can.
Don’t confuse the Law of Attraction by being inconsistent in your desires. Don’t keep changing your mind, otherwise there’s no way for what you ask for to find its way to you. Be consistent, be determined…but leave the “how” out of it. If you decide the method and schedule by which your desires will come to you, you’re limiting your possibilities to only what you can think of. After all, what if there’s something better out there than what you can imagine? Just trust that it is happening now and allow it to come to you. Follow where your intuition leads you. Don’t worry about it, don’t look for proof, don’t start doubting.
Affirmations are a form of advertising
If you do find that doubts and negative self-talk are getting in your way, you can apply positive affirmations. When used consistently, affirmations will do away with your limiting beliefs and replace them with thoughts that will help you achieve what you desire. Does advertising work? Sure it does-there’s a multibillion dollar industry that proves it and affirmations are a form of advertising with only you as the target audience.
Affirmations must be stated in the “I” form, in the present tense and always positively. They should also invoke a positive emotion. For instance: “I deserve large sums of money that allow me to have more fun with my family”, “I choose to effortlessly earn $100,000 per year”, “I enjoy working out regularly and maintaining a trim and slim body that turns heads”, “I choose to attract only healthy and positive people into my life who help me achieve my goals”; “I choose to create a positive, healthy and joyful lifestyle for myself”. You can write them down everyday, or use them as a screensaver, or buy special affirmation or goal setting software that you can use on your computer.
If you’re skeptical about how the Law of Attraction can affect you, just try being happy and positive for a month. It will amaze you how easy it is to get things going your way in that short period of time. A lot can be achieved in relatively little time — why waste any of it by being negative? Get out there and manifest what you want!

So you desire to gain material things in life? Affirmations are usually effective in this respect – maybe even more so than with other desires because material desires often come with stronger emotional attachments.
You’ll recall that in my previous article, “Why Do Some Affirmations Work – and Others Don’t?” I emphasized that affirmations that are emotionally charged are the ones most likely to work. So when you are emotionally connected to your desire for material things, you can use the power of affirmations to see how quickly your need is manifested!
Power Affirmations for Attracting Money.
If your desire is to have an abundance of money to fill your needs, practice this affirmation: “I always have an abundance of money to meet all my needs.” Repeat it several times, then stop affirming. Be silent while knowing, visualizing, and feeling how it is to already have the amount of money you desire. Feel as though it has already happened, and that all your needs are more than satisfied. While in this state, hold yourself open to all the ways and means by which you will have money flow into your life to meet your every need.
Following are other power affirmations for abundant supply. Choose the affirmations that feel appropriate to you –those that resonate with you, or strike an emotional chord. It is important that the words feel comfortable to you and are in line with who you are. Feel free to create one for your specific need by substituting other words that have special meaning to you:
Affirmations of Abundant Supply:
I am now open to receive.
Life is easy, I have an abundance of whatever I need.
I now have surplus, all my needs are being met.
I have unlimited abundance.
I now give and receive freely.
This is a rich universe and there is plenty for all of us.
I now live in a rich and loving universe.
Money comes to me easily and effortlessly.
I am always supplied with whatever I need.
I move forward with an expectancy of my greatest good.
I look for and receive a bountiful supply.
My greatest good is coming to me NOW.
The last affirmation was a turning point for me personally.
TIP: How to Maintain the Emotional Charge of Your Affirmations
Most people who practice affirmations experience the challenge of maintaining the emotional charge of their affirmations. That’s because although the power of thought is amazingly strong, it remains strong for a short period of time. Its quality changes and tends to diminish with each repetition.
For example: Suppose you recite an affirmation such as: “All my needs are met instantaneously.” The affirmation produces a feeling, and you understand and connect with the affirmation at a certain level. But when you continue repeating the affirmation, “All my needs are met instantaneously,” again and again, the thought seldom maintains the same level of emotion previously achieved. With each repetition, you tend to lose the mental picture of what the words mean, and they start to have less meaning.
Affirmations that are meaningless fail to reach deep enough to touch the limitless powers of your subconscious mind.
By Jeff Staniforth
To prevent this from happening, I’ve developed the software program called Sculptor 3, which combines affirmations with 7 of the best results-amplifying technologies that are tested and proven to increase the power and speed of manifestation. Discover how to tap into the power of computerization to take the power of your affirmations to the highest level at Affirmware.co.au
